hey guys, going to be doing a small setup in my vrx soon, just wondering which side to run my power cable on? and the rca's on the opposite side? i know in my commodore it was drivers side power and passenger side for RCA's!

Also where is the best spot to run through the firewall ?

At a guess I'd say passenger for power just because the battery is already on that side, but I don't think it matters as long as they don't run next to each other.

For a Third Gen
On the left hand side of the car, remove the sill plastics, and the plastics running up the left as far as the lower dash, and the plastic below the glove-box that goes to the firewall. Put your hand up on the inside body of the car ( infront of the hinges, above the edge of the carpet) feeling the interior paint work. You'll feel a round rubber bung. (Unused)
Pull it out and drill it out so the power cable is a snug fit.
Push your cable through the bung, flat side first, and push it through the front quarter of the car.

Remove the inside black plastic splash guards inside the LHF wheel well and you will locate the cable you push through earlier.
Now, looking from inside the engine bay, you will see a rather flexible grommet, located behind the left strut tower top. Get the wire through that and its in the engine bay.
Locate the fuse box as close to the battery as possible, for safety, if anything rubs through or in case of accidents.

Credit to Davo! for showing me this method.

You could run the RCA's down the middle, but go down the right hand side. Keeping them as high as possible moving right (immedaitely after the plugs) behind the dash, as to avoid interferance from the ECU, under the carpet, under the rear seat, avoiding the fuel pump, more possible interferance.

For a 380 the ecu is the engine bay so run the RCA's where you want, but the rear floor carpet is very thick and tough to move, RHS is easier.
And for power in a 380, the LHS dash bung is there, but I ran the power wire all the way through the 1/4 panel (removed indicator repeater and a hooked coat hanger for help) exiting behind the headlight, then back up the battery.
There is a firewall bung to use but I hate mucking with used firewall bungs.

There is a stickied thread at the start of the audio section. This was in it. But not my method.

Yeah I would go by depending where you battery is located, run the power cable down the side where the battery is on and run the RCA cables down the other side, that is what I would do.

well i got it all done, the hardest part was taking wheel off to run the power cable, looks all neat, easy car to work with, RCA down drivers side with speaker cable, got my 2 amps mono and 3 ch, stock fronts off the amp go well i was impressed (im changing them in a week or so as i suspect my drivers tweeter is stuffed) but needless to say it took me a good 3 hrs to do, still need to tidy up the wiring a little and modified my carpeted board to hide all the wiring, loving bass back in a car, went 2 month without subs once you have bass , you can never go back haha!!

Thanks,

no pics till i get my custom facia board mounted in and all wiring hidden, needless to say the custom dual box from my commodore fitted in perfect and i have the subs facing forward which can be seen through the fold down area! Still yet to change my front splits but the factory ones seem to be doing fine for now!!
