hey guy's

so yesterday i got the shits with the constant water and smell in the passanger floor pan so i riped out the carpet and started looking for the leak. first i removed the front left guard and re-sealed the 2 rubber gromits in the inner wheel arch and any area around it. then semi refited the guard and put the car back out in the rain for an hour.... damit still leaking.. when i had another look with the torch the leak seem to be coming from higher above the gromits... tomorrow i will be removing the rain drip railes and having a look were it could be coming from.. my Question is has anybody experienced water running down the inside of the fire wall passed these gromets?? if its not the drip railes were else could it come from?? this is a fairly big leak cos it goes from nothing to 2cm deep on the floor pan in about an hour....

might it be the heater unit leaking

or the air con drain pipe clogged to the outside

nah deff clear tastless water and i mopped it up and put the car back out in the rain with motor off and it filled the floor pan again.. plus there's plent of A/C water going on the ground

When I took out my super charger, I also took out the hi-flow pump and left the lid off that sits under the rear passenger seat. On rainy days water got into my car through that hole and smelt up the carpet.. This could only cause you problems if you've been fiddling with your in-tank fuel pump. Dunno about you MOS, but it might be something to look at Perry seeing as your car is modified and it'll take you a good part of a couple of minutes.

or maybe, there is a grommit inside the left wheel arch behind the plastic, if your plastic guards aren't on right water could get up into there.

pull the wheel off and remove the plastic inner guard. long shot..but my thoughts are either heater core or a grommit thats dissapeared. is there any under the seat?

nothing directly under the seat buy verry occaisionly the rear pan gets some water in it?

remove the bottom of your rear seat and check that all the grommets are there, and if there is a hole there could be sufficient spray to come in. its odd tho..are all your door seals in good condition?

Get someone with a hose and get them to squirt your car while you check for leaks.....

Even windscreens leak from time to time- the only thing that should be leaking from the firewall is the heater core, so if it's clear/rain water, then it has to be something less dramatic....

I put a post in here, thats where mine was leaking from. Thought it was the windscreen but replacing it didn't fix it.

Check for rust on the firewall where the panels join between the wheel arches and the firewall. Mine was a tiny bit rusty, which was enough to let water in. Scrub away the paint and the chassis glue and it might reveal some roost issues.

My TH was leaking as well, looked at all the usual locations, one was the air inlet under the front deck garnish (plastic leaf screen at the base of the windsreen), it has a plastic cover over it and if the foam rubber seal has perished can leak water into the fan and interior. After this was fixed it was still leaking, and I removed the trim around the screen this let in a lot of water as the windscreen was only on by 30cm at the top, which made relacing easy. but this was the most obvious place to look as it is probably the highest point on the firewall. Pull off the trim on the A pillar and see if the water has travelled down this as it chanels the water to the back of the dash and down the firewall.

the best way to discribe were the leaks coming from is directly under the factory tweeter mounts... thats how high it is when looking with a torch under the glovebox.. can see water trickle marks all the way down and over the wheel arch gromits to the floor

Mine was like it was coming in from the top outermost corner out of sight, running down and across to the middle of the footwell and down the left hand side by the edge of the door.

yep,
remove the a pillar trim on the inside, as this channels the water down to behind the dash near the holes for the midrange speakers in the dash, you should be able to see water inside this if they were like mine and will clearly see water drip onto the seat / carpet like mine.

just get sum no more gaps - Silicone bathroom stuff. Remove the passenger side windscreen strip. Undo the passenger side of the bonnet, and then fill down the side of the windscreen and joining gap around the gaurd and it should stop or do what is done in the pic
