View Full Version : Tuning
Hay all
I rang up chip torque on the gold coast about a tune they said they did a 3.5l VRX and they got 7 to 8kwatw gain is that a good gain from a tune. Has steve night had these firgures from his tunes?
Thanks Kurt

Do mods, then get the tune! Spend money on parts and get the tune done once!
A tune will increase the responsiveness through the ***** rev range. Get yourself a 380 motor!!

I had a 9 KW increade at all 4 wheels of my AWD.
Just re,e,ber, the awd pumps out noo where near as much as a FWD, so your gain would be even more than mine.
Personally, would perfer Steve to do it as he knows these motors better and knows how to get the most out of them safely.

Yeah, If you've finished modding before getting serious - (engine upgrade, s/c etc), then get a tune, not before. But I wouldn't be expecting more than 10-12KW's increase if you've only done basic mods. (It'll feel like more, though!!)

So true, I'd rather take a weekend to drive to SA & have mine tuned than trust it to some 'non magna' specialist, who may or may not know the magna's too well. Couldn't you do a postal tune from SKR? He's done a fair amount of 3.5l tunes now so I'd assume he'd have one to suit your current mods.

I gained 10kw form mine when it was a stockka, it had extractors and an ezy boy pod box on it. Every dyno is different
Oh ok sweet. Has anyone done a before and after dyno of a postal tune.? I was told it would only be a 1 or 2kw difference between a postal tune and dyno tune?

It's generally accepted that dynos are not accurate to within say 10kw, same dyno, same day. This i verified by the back to back runs they do where there is quite significant variations in power. Dynos are good tuning devices but are no where near what you'd call accurate.
