Hey all,

I have scoured the "speaker pod" topics and found nothing. Hence the thread...

I am installing 6 inch speakers into the front door and the pod works great as an adapter. My problem is - the frame of the speaker is too wide to fit in the pod. I was going to chop most of the plastic away, just leaving the face of the pod to use as an adapter. Just wanted to make sure there is no important use for the bit I am getting rid of before I do so.

Thanks

Not really, I mean it would protect from water and stuff a bit but if it's in the way, it's in the way :P

Depending on if the issue is width of depth you might be abel to space the speaker out the front with some MDF or similar in order to save cutting it up.

I definitely installed 6 inch speakers. Just the frame from the speaker to the magnet is quite wide.
I ended up chopping off the back and used it as an adapter plate. Being that the speakers were a bit too small, I had to put some big washers. Worked out alright. Though the piece that I figure is supposed to direct the sound (plastic piece that sticks out of the trim) into the car rattles a bit. Not too bad though.
