side seam appears too frail at normal point and front too low for ramps

Under the front your best bet is the tie down hook on the north south cross member, the hook helps stop the jack slipping
The back end DO NOT USE THE REAR FRAME, use the hump sticking out of your spare wheel well
Check the owners manual in the glovebox - it says to use part of the subframe under the engine/trans at the front and has an illustration - I used this and also tried the hook but found the subframe one kept the front more balanced whilst the hook allowed one side to sag. But wahtever, check the manual. My TL climbs ramps front and rear...maybe they are higher?

The side rails are fine, seriously. The jack that comes with the car actually only uses the rail to hold it in place, the weight is taken up by a solid part of the chassis just behind the rail. Have a look under the car at the jacking point and you will see. I use a trolley jack at those points all the time, but I push the head behind the rail, then jack it up and when it is above the level of the rail I pull the trolley back a bit before lifting the car. Works well, but if you put your trolley jack ON the rail, it will just collapse, and everyone who sees it will know you for a . . . . . . mmm, can't think of the right word at the moment. "Dunce" doesn't quite cover it. lol
If you are confused, I will take a picture tomorrow, as I have the front end of my TS nicely dismantled, and sitting up on two trolley jacks and two axle stands. Can't be too careful, gravity is a Biatch at times. lol

if I can add to that, always have some jack stands on hand, and (this is what I do if in doubt), as I jack it up, place jack stands just below points that are clearly able to support hte weight.
What I'm trying to say is, this car will kill you if it falls on you so a little paranoia goes a long way.
And of course, never ever, EVER get under a car supported by a trolley jack. Please promise me that.
You probably already know all this.

Yep, both my trolley jacks tend to "ooze" down all by themselves, ever so slowly, thats why I use axle stands as well! lol I'd hate to get up in the morning and find my car sitting on its front bumper or brake discs.:woot:

I can verify the dangers of being under a car without adequate security. I work in an Emergency Department and we had a man crushed to death under a car only 2 weeks ago. Use jack stands and chocks under the wheels.
