I was thinking of getting a body kit, but I don't have like $2k. So I'm thinking it might look alright to respray the gray plastic lip on the front of my TR the same colour as the car. Is there a way to do this so it looks nice? I'm thinking that it wont match even if sprayed the same colour, because it's plastic not metal.

Has anyone tried this?

Ask at a paint shop, I think you will need a plastic adhesive type thing, some filler/primer to make it a smooth surface not textured, and then the paint, clearcoat as well if its a metallic. Starts getting expensive. You could see if you can find a verada the same colour in a wreckers? Pretty sure they had colour coded bumpers. Also, new paint might not match faded paint if your car has paint fade.

my TS is white and so are the whole front and rear bumpers and the side strips, it looks pretty good and gives the car a bulkier look, send me your e-mail addy and I'll send you a pic if you like, P.S. it still has the texture in the plastic and yes it needs plastic adhesive primer, you can also add "flex aid" (I believe it's called) to the paint.

This is my car and I must admit, without the grey trim look around the body makes a huge difference :)
