Hey people,
Has anyone swapped an instrument cluster in a TS SE?
Mine is too hard to see the speedo so I picked up a replacement through Ebay but haven't had a chance to look at the task yet.
Is it just a metter of removing 4 (or so screws), pulling out the instrument cluster, unplugging the wiring and reversiing this to replace it?
:shifty:

Yeah it very easy to do.

You first drop the steering wheel to it lowest point
Next yank out the speedo reset stick
Then take two screws out of the shroud and then remove the shroud
Then take out four screw and then take out the cluster :)

Very smiply to do and easy

Thanks for that. :D
I didn't think it would be too difficult, but didn't want to cripple the car on mission impossible either and have to crawl over to the professionals to finish a job I couldn't. :disgusted
I might even look into slowly restoring it to its former glory..... Maybe.

Is this how you get to the dash backlights also?

Yes, once you remove the cluster you just twist the globes out.

Will the guages still be accurate? I've had a lot of trouble with mine, but that's because i pulled the needles off. When my temp guage gets to half, i know she's really burning up. The fuel guage is better, when im driving people around "oh, gosh. looks like im outta fuel. Who's got money?" lol

Don't think you need to remove the trip reset knob.
I think it comes out with the cluster.
Probably should disconnect the battery as well.
Otherwise, a 5 minute job.

Yea, your right. I had to remove it because i customized the plastic behind the needles, i added a door open light on the dash (for each door)
