Guys,
Give me a Magna and I will fix it, give me audio and I will just give you a blank look so now I need some assistance here

I have this 380 as most of you know, it has a complete Rockford Fosgate system in it, 6 x 9 rear, splits up front with RF splits, even the power cable has a RF splitter on it FFS so looks like aside from the Clarion amp it is a complete set up. Under the dash there is some gadget that taps into the speaker wires to give the signal to the amp, some sort of thing I assume so you can run low pass

Now the question is, is this stuff worth much, reason I am asking is that I was thinking of putting it all in the Diamante HOWEVER I am not that much into sound, lets face it, 3aw sounds the same regardless of what you are listening to. As this is custom made for a 380 am I better off selling this off and using that money to get another JVC unit for the Diamante or should I go whole hog and hack this set up to fit into the Diamante.

Thoughts? and most important, if I go to the hassle of doing all of this, will the end result be worth it when I do get out the oldies tracks and crank them up a bit

As a guide, the rear speakers have 120w RMS written under them

If it is the factory audio i would say it would be okay. Not premium range though. Sure it would be worth money to an enthusiast

This is all aftermarket stuff, has been installed in place of all of the factory stuff, neat install for sure but is aftermarket

All aftermarket? Then its worth decent dollars and is worth more to you to sell it :) Pull it all out and PM me model numbers. Il find out real quick what they are worth

depending on which series that gear is from (in order from low to high) prime, punch or power it is worth atleast $200 for the speakers alone. RF are a bit rare in australia.. well atleast in my area.

This should give you some idea: http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/product_categories.asp?cat_id=3

In my opinion with the sort of music you will be listening to, i dont think much of the Rockford Gear would be well suited to it, mainly because the excursion on some of their speakers, sort of lend the RF name to big bass and lot of excursion. Without model numbers its hard, but maybe put up an EOI someone might want to upgrade the system in their 380, and this would be perfectly suited to them especially since there is a Low Level Converter already wired up.

But to be blunt: For what you want, i dont think the effort would be worth it, i would be more incline to just keep it simple.

As for a system that goes in the Diamante, i would audition some speakers to see what sounds best with some of your "oldies" tracks, otherwise if you wanna spend a bit more the Hertz ESK165's are quite nice entry level speakers but may be abit hard to get your hands on. Otherwise hit up your local and have a chat and listen.

Depends on what range they are - Prime, Punch or Power. If mid range Punch or up, they're worth your effort to grab out and either use again or sell.

Ok, these all have Power written across the cones, so assume are the power range, is this good or bad

The power are Rockford Fosgate's top of the line, looking at the power speakers they start at $150 and venture up to $1,700

So its good either for your listening pleasure or resale.

Cool, I will get a pic of the set up and post up here for opinions, am leaning towards selling as to be honest if I have to choose between this set up and a good head unit would rather the head unit, I did give it a good go in the 380 and it did sound awesome but then agian given that the D will be drivin very occasionaly again have to ask if I really need all this stuff

I had a reasonably punchy / bass oriented setup in my previous TJ.. Definitely not top line equipment (probably owed me less than $400) but the sound quality was good.
I blew my dad away when I chucked on some of his CD's when he visited from interstate!! He's turning 60 later this year & doesn't listen to much loud music but he absolutely loved it when Pink Floyd came through 2 amps & 2 x 12" subs :woot:
There's more than people think to alot of music when it's played through a quality system! Especially some of the "oldies"

Have a listen to some of your favourites through the nice RF system & you may be more inclined to keep it seeing as it's already there & functioning well..
My 2c :D

:woot: I call shotgun on the front speakers and the stuff holding it in place! (note: I did kinda express interest in them in the wreaking thread)

That is of course if you do decide to sell them in pairs and if the asking price is right... I was thinking around a $120 would be reasonable :ninja:.. but I wont lie to you they can be worth a lot more than that.

personaly i hate rockford gear, my 2cents worth?

sell it to someone here and get yourself a nice new headunit and nice new speakers any where to buy these new goodies ?? our very own "other" sponcer of course :D

fli range are great speakers at fairly low prices and will provide much better clarity than rockford, and if your not into head thumping bass a decent set of speakers will prob suit you better anyways

EDIT: btw mal welcome back mate, you had some of us worried from a minute there

I agree its not the best gear in its price range. I would not pay full retail for them. They are however a nice upgrade from stock.

Looks like the majority seem to think that they are quite good, will do some measurements and see how they fit into the various bits, being a Diamante the dash has tweeter locations same as the third gens do so this makes life easier as well

If I do sell will be a s a set up not in bits though

If you end up deciding to split it up to sell, give me a PM. I might grab a couple things.

As stated above, if I sell will be sold complete or not at all, have stated this twice now from memory ?

If someone wants to discuss I am happy to but if not, will not bother advertising it and will simply mod it all to fit the D as the offers above in this thread I may as well not bother selling it for those offers, not a pinch of what it costs to replace from the places I have called and asked for info from

All I now need to do is get someone like hrd2gt to come over and how me how to set this up on the amp lol
