Dear All
Problem: Magna was running and stopped after 10mins. Lights, fan, ignition and starter motor all work - no apparent electrical issues. Called NRMA, after 5 mins an a couple of electrical checks he indicated I have to replace the "ignition module".
Actions 1: I visited the wrecker and got a second hand ignition module (actually the entire distributor as they only sold me the entire assembly), the mechanic replaced it but the problem remains the same. The part was removed and replaced by the original one.
Action 2: The mechanic asked me to change the coil (part no. F-088-01U") and a small module next to it (part no. IB G OC POWER UNIT J121", I sourced them from another wrecker - plugged in the 3 connectors (without fitting the assembly on the car) and it won't start (again, starter motor works, so as lights & dash lights.
Action 3: The mechanic asked me to check how to test the modules (POWER UNIT J121) as this might be on the manual, also to check whether I can get some feedback via one of the service ports to identify an error signal.
Any help on the overall problem or Action 3 will be greatly appreciated.
Magna 1993, Executive sedan, 2.6L EFI.
Cheers
