Hey guys,
As with the sigma thread (about a fortnight ago) this is another similar one talking about engine conversions.

I have my eye on a nice second gen wagon.
Thing is sexy, diamante lips, SE model, white (my preference) and its in great nick...
But, its a 4cyl -.-
What are the parts required and the associated costs with getting an astron to a 3.0 v6? Im sure I could use an SE v6 loom, etc etc, and would it be much harder to do manual?
Just searching for opinions and facts.

Cheers,
Pickles

Gets me thinking it may be easier to just get a v6 wagon and upgrade the interior bits, as a cheaper/easier option

Should be do-able, but it will take time and effort, and not worth doing unless you have access to a low Km manual donor car.

Why not go for a third gen?

The main thing is the left hand side mount need to be rewelded to work with the V6 motor. But there are heaps of V6 magnas out there, just go and buy lot easier in the end :)

He has a 3rd gen already I think... But yeah, unless you are good in the engine bay, swapping interior bits would be easier. I guess if you can find a nice white KR/KS wagon and stick your lip on it?

Yeah I have a TH atm, has the 3.5 and everything.
I am just a huge fan on the 2nd gen wagons, especially with a diamante lip on it.
I guess a nice KS wagon would do the trick nicely, wonder if they make any white ones ahahah (highly doubt it)
And I dont have the lip, its already on it! odd

I've owned both a 4 cylinder manual TS sedan and 6 cylinder auto TS wagon, and all I can say is that the manual allows the 2.6 motor to perform well. Lots of low down torque and still cruises at 110 KPH at 2,500 rpm with little effort. Why not buy the wagon, and do a manual conversion on the 2.6?
