Hi guys, magna noob alert! (commodore kid)
I have a friend who's got an 96 TE and is looking to convert to manual.
Were wondering (before he buys the box) is it A: a pain in the ass? anything major that needs changing before hand? and B: will the ECU need to be swapped over with one from a Manual TE?

And anything else you guys could think of?

Cheers, Matt.

Don't need to swap ECU, you also need a whole lot more than just the box.

Pain in the ass, can be, quite a few have done it themselves and it's been fine, probably best to pay someone if you're not confident.

Mits-Fix is an option if you're local.

Thanks for the quick reply, i'm confident in doing it as i've converted a few commodores.
What else would i need besides the clutch, pedal box & hydro lines, and tail shaft? do they need an adapter plate?

Also, does the loom from the manual just plug direct into the ecu or? is the loom for the auto the same for the manual.

Loom is the same, but you need to do something or rather with it, I'll let someone who knows more answer you.

Original auto ECU stays, you will need to bridge few wires on the inhibitor switch loom (do a search its been mentioned few times which wires), to trick ECU into thinking that car is in neutral so you can start the car & another set of wires for reverse light. Has it got cruise control? If yes then you need to wire up your clutch switch to the cruise ECU, again its been discussed many times before.
