Well, rear brakes have been fitted. I'd have to say it was more of an asthetic bonus over a braking bonus but I'm sure they help. Had to use the hubs from the AWD hence the caliper sitting in a different position to the stock caliper and had to get some end caps to fit as there's no longer a rear drive shaft but it still needed something to holdeverything together. Handbrake cable also required reattaching as it's a different setup to the previous drum brake. Only downside is that one of the bearings managed to stiffen up over time while it wasn't being used so I get an annoying resonance in the car. We're finding a new bearing to swap in the coming weeks. Increase is from 258 to 284 and it's quite noticeable.

Nice dude!! :D

That first pic looks like the brakes wouldn't stop a pushbike going uphill!!

Haha...........*frowns and runs outside to check his own stock brakes*

Yeah that looks way cool, painted would make it stand right out as well, how much did it cost you for the brake upgrade if I may ask?

It's definately bigger. These all came from an AWD Magna.

Nah, no paint for mine. It wasn't cheap.

$900 for calipers and rotors, (from wreckers)
$250 for rear hub assembly
$700 for labour, endcaps and miscellaneous parts.

Shizer, $900 bucks for the rear rotors and calipers? I thought most were getting the fronts for only around $500?? Why the rears so exy?

For what you've just spent, almost be better to go aftermarket and get 4 potters or something! Although I have not investigated this, brake upgrades are usually in the $2500-$4000 range, which wouldn't be far off what you have spent (if including the fronts)!!

Unless of course that was $900 for fronts and rears???

Very nice Redav, Hit your head on the windscreen yet? lol

I can get my hands on a set of callipers from a VR4 Turbo.
They should fit. They have the exact same size rotor. only they are 2 pot brakes.
I have also read somewhere that the AWD & Ralliart magna's use the exact same callipers as the old VR4's.

Yeah? Interesting. I thought that the front twin pistons came from an Evo. Oh well, no reason why they can't all be the same.
