Driving home from work today I noticed my "Anti Lock" light was lit.
Brakes seemed to work fine still, when I got closer to home I did some testing and I couldn't actually get the brakes to lock up at 50, damn 380 twin pots! lol. So either the brakes are working really well, or ABS is still working.

So anyway, I got home, turned the car off. Decided to fire her up again and the light flickered off like normal. Pumped the brake pedal a few times, light still remained off.

Should I be worried? What faults could there be which would cause the light to come on? The system seemed to be working fine but the last thing I'd hate to happen is have the ABS malfunction at the wrong time :(. Then again it could have just been a once off sensor going screwy?

My TS does this. I cleaned the front ABS sensors while doing the front brakes, haven't had the light come on since.

Get it looked at!!! I managed to get the 380 brakes to lock up in mainly wet weather. And on a dirt road :| My advice is to at least get it looked at man. Oh and they will lock up if you hit them hard at 80k's in the dry

Sounds to me like an ABS sensor, Maybe someone can tell you how to Fault code check it.. Just dont take it to any Back Yard Mechnics..:)

ABS sensors are magnetic, they accumulate bits of grot and metal. Try cleaning them. Better still, ask Madmagna to have a look at them.

lol I only had it serviced a month ago.
That's good news about the TCL, I'll have to book my car in to get that fixed and get you to look at the ABS sensor while I'm there :).

The car should be safe to drive to and from work (mostly freeway) until I can get it checked though? Assuming the light doesn't come back on and i'm gentle on the brakes :P.

Is cleaning the front sensors something any idiot can do?

Cleaning sensors is not usually the issue, I would say that was more luck than antything else, I would rather plug in and get a diagnostic before we jump the gun

either be a build up of gunk or a abs sensor is rooted but in saying this if u hav tcl see if the wheel spins?

but i would 1st check the abs relay as they have known to become faulty.

Can also be the modulator, the ecu, the solonoid valve just for a starter lol

Once we have the code then is all good and not the TCL does not work currently, this is something we are working on as this car did not come from Mits with TCL

It came on straight away this morning, turned car off immediately and restarted, light went off lol. I'll give u a call later today Mal and arrange a booking :)

So i'll get Mal to check this out in a couple of weeks, but the symptons are interesting:
If I turn the key to "on" for a few seconds before starting the car, the light doesn't come on.
If I turn the car on straight away after it's been sitting for awhile, the light comes on and stays on. If I then turn off and restart the car, the light goes off.

Does the ABS take some time to boot or something?

i failed my nsw rwc yesterday with this light on, the mechanics diagnostic computer (snap on computer) could not establish communication with my car so brought out the code manually it was one long light folled by 3 short lights = right rear speed sensor issue..... no one in albury stocked the sensors even mitsu.... suprise suprise..... but got quoted $160 for the thing retail... picked one up from jollies today but will clean my original one 1st and try that before replacing it. once light is off i can pass rwc lol.
