it'd be interesting to see if ya top speed is increased a little if ya waxed the car before hand  cos the main thing stoppin ya from goin faster at those speeds is the wind resistance  and power :doubt:

Meh

my old TN elante got up to 180 no probs, had extractors, pod, big straight through exhaust, 5speed

i know that my top speed was 140 without secondarys working :doubt:

130 after mags

shouldnt the mags have given a higher gearing and therefore higher top speed?

Matt

TP wagon, efi, extractors - 4th gear, 4250rpm, 185km/h and wouldn't go higher.

mags are wider... more rubber contacting with the road and so more friction. more friction, less speed.

i have always believed that smaller tyres will give u a higher top speed but less traction then a larger 15" or 16" tyre would give (as width is limited on a small tyre). weight could also b a factor, as the mags weigh abit more than the stock tin rims. not totally sure wen it comes to tyres mags. never had time to look right into it as the tyre/mag combo i got just came straight up so i bought it

Also don't forget the wider the tyres the more wind resistance you are going to expirience (it really does make a difference) :)

it'll handle it. ive taken a 1.5L hyundai excel DOHC to 185km/hr on the highway. that was scary :bowrofl: touch the wheel ur in the next lane. i think a family sedan/wagon should b able to handle the road at higher speeds. i'd never do it again though and i wouldn't recommend going this high, is dangerous and stupid (im the first to admit it). if u were to speed on the highway i would not take it past 130 hey. is just too dangerous to urself and most importantly, other motorists... even though u should not speed at all.

i only went to 130 with zr rated tyres hehe, but i think other things are more fun than flat out top speed :) cos the ol' magna could take a while to get up there, and i dont drive on highways much...(come to think of it, i havnt actually been on a highway in the magna  not with me driving nehow, havnt had it long enough!!)

fastest ive gone was about 145 ..but that was only about half throttle (around where the secondaries start to open) and on a coldish day.. i figure thats the most fuel efficient spot to b on.... and i reckon it could travel all day at that speed and have no probs whatsoever :) it sounds so smooth  cant think of what the car could do on full throttle  i need a race track :doubt:

least you guys know if the race was 4km long you would beat me :P my car runs out of gearing at 170, stupid NA gearing

The first Magna (of a many lol ) my family bought was a TM SE 5 speed, my brother had it upto 175kph, it was still raising but so slowlly we backed off. I'm guesing it would have topped out at about 180. lol

well i got to 170 ................ only reason i went so hard here was it was a very wide road and NO ONE ELSE WAS ON THE ROAD not even in my car............ i admit going fast is an adrenilen rush but if i hurt myself or kill myself trying to get the rush then im a dick................... if i hurt someone else then i would be affecting maybe 50 ppl collectivley as in the victims and their family and friends .......... so guys if ya's are gonna do it make sure no one else is there with u
its one thing to F-up ur life its another to do it to someone else

anyways ... i always thought and im sure its been said on AM but dont the astron 2.6 have a top speed of 178kms ? i think ?

I can't believe the mods are allowing this talk about illegal (not to mention highly dangerous) speeds on public roads.

I am a Police Officer in South Australia. People who have admitted to speeding on public roads will be getting at the least a phone call or possibly an invitation to your local station over the next few weeks.

And don't worry about deleting post. I have copies of all necessary.

The road has been travelled down before... theres numerous "top speed" threads on these forums, it its been done to death.

White Maggot has no way foot to stand on, the media found on these forums is highly editable and manipulative... it wouldnt hold up in court.

Not to mention the trouble the Police would have to go to, to find contact details on people who have posted here, just for a phone call, or invite to a station.

Sorry, no banana.

If you insist you're a police officer then we have a right to know your badge number and name.

Cough it up or give up the charade as it's really silly.
