Second gen V6 has a torque converter lockup in third and fourth gears. I notice it in 4th, revs drop by about 200 rpm after cruising at a steady speed on the open road for a while at 90-100 KPH.
Does the 3rd gen (4 speed TJ) have the same lockup system? At what speed and how much does it drop RPM by?
Haven't seen it working yet on mine, but that's probably because I've only done 1,000 Km in it, and mainly suburban driving. lol

Any info would be appreciated. (Tall gearing on these, no point using 4th gear around town, or below 80 KPH. Second goes to 110 KPH, third can wind out to 170 KPH. Not that I've tried it, but should be good for overtaking B doubles on the open road. lol)

Yea when it locks up in 4th, revs drop by about 200, so it must be very similar to second gen.....

Thanks for that. Haven't seen it in action yet. What sort of speed are we looking at?

Thanks! I will do a test run to see if mine does that. lol Just curious to see what the steady speed fuel consumption is with no power loss in the transmission.
