Magna wagon tailgate won't open electrics all seem okay.Any ideas how to open?

Have you tried unlocking manually with the key or does it seem like the handle and linkage is the problem? I don't know if it's possible but can the speaker surrrounds and speakers be removed so you maybe have a look inside and see if the linkage has come free? Failing that and this is desparate way but you may have to find another rear trim and sacrifice yours cutting it open to gain access. Hope you don't and you get lucky.
