Alright so I've only driven for 2-3years now, so excuse my newbness..
I was driving today, around 60k's when a guy in front of me hit his brakes when it turned yellow.. he could've easily passed but nope, which made me hit mine too. The problem im going to bring up is when I hit it, it felt like nothing was stopping me? Felt like something was stuck in the brake pads?
Not sure..Felt like the disc was gonna fall in half, honestly i don't know how to describe it but it wasn't stopping me for around .5millisec then went back to normal, ever since i bought the car the brakes have been "squealing" and will bring it up with the dealer/mechanics first thing monday.
Has anyone felt this? Is it normal or the ABS working? I HVE NO CLUE IM A NEWBIE.
ask me anything, ill try my best to describe it.. ps; it happened twice now. Doesn't happen when i hit it at 40k under. only at 60-70kphs.

If you felt a pulsating sort of feeling through the brake pedal, it's the ABS doing its magic.

Brake squeal is a standard feature with 380 brakes. It also sounds like it was the ABS activating when you hit the brakes so this is normal. The pulsing isn't that noticeable on the 380 because of the higher pulse rate but better stickier tyres will see better braking in this situation.

Yeah i think that was it... hopefully. I hit it and it felt like it didnt respond at all. then the pedal went back to normal?

ABS buddy its scary when you first experience it but it is normal
Brake squeal is a 380 trademark still has one of the best OEM brake packages for a family car

Yeah. thankgod, i can skip the mechanic check now. also can someone explain this?
once i drive my 380, then drive my dads maxima, the brake feeling is so off. i've gotta slightly push it in, whereas in the 380 it feels more easier to brake? It doesnt mean the brakes on the maxima is better? obviously feels like it though.

not 100% sure but my front wheels MIGHT have been off the tarmac too, because it was a hill then a drop, and i speeded up cause i thought' he'd go thru the yellow and i knew the guy behind me wouldn't have been able to stop in time....
but yeah hopefully it's the abs.. it felt like the pedals were mucked up and the disc rotors...

Get it checked anyway.
If you want more confidence in what it is likely to do, drive it over broken surfaces at 60kmh and do some crash stops.

Leave more space between you and the car in front is my advice, that way you have some 'getout' time.

well if it stopped from 60-70ks on small space and you did not hit the car in front - your brakes are working fine ;-) it can be ABS working on different level what is giving you that pedal feedback - if it stopped you are fine - trouble would be if it didnt.
also check your brake pads and maybe they are a bit worn out or irregularly worn out - get this checked - squeaking is normal even when you put in new break pads - little moisture in the air can create film that creates squeaking sounds - not necessarily worn out pad (got mine replaced under this impression and they were around 70% good)...
if you have bad feeling of your braking than get it checked
and always keep reasonable distance between cars - this keep heart rate down as well ;-) cheers m

The brakes don't sound too bad but something that may be worth checking is that the Brake pads might be glazed, this happens if the braking is always gentle (as in normal driving). If your brake pads have enough pad left and the discs are good it could just be that you need to bed the pads in again. see some of the tech articles on www.rdabrakes.com.au ..... in particular http://rdabrakes.com.au/index.php/technical/75-bedding-in-of-pads-and-rotors.html
