Is it legal?

I was under the impression it was illegal to have blue and/or red lights on the exterior of your car due to emergency services usingthe same colours.
Also rice.

Questions of taste aside, they're legal as long as you don't drive around with them turned on lol Like Dingers said, blue and red are especially illegal...

White is meant to be the only legal 'colour' for neons, but if you try driving around with a blue light in the grill of your car, the cops will nail you with an impressive list of fines - likely including impersonating a police officer.
Dunno about other states, but WA includes the colours white, amber, purple and green as acceptable colours, (probably more, dont know), the light source cant be visible, and they cant flash. Other than that your pretty right :)

in SA no, you cant drive with any exterior lighting apart from stock, you can have it on the car but not ON, if you are parked with the engine off, thats when its leagl in a non builtup area, got pulled over last night a asked a few Q's :)

Aww that's crap. I've spent a couple of weeks making the center garnish around the number plate perfect, so that I could have lights behind it and illuminate the word "Mitsubishi". Well, if I get defected I'll just buy a new center garnish and get rid of the defect. Quick question, do you get fines or penalties when defected for a mod like that? Or is it just the one fee to get rid of it? Like, you don't get demerit points or anything like that right?
I think they might be a bit more lenient towards extra red lights on the rear and LED parkers in the unused side of parras etc, but driving around with flashing underglow is a definate no-no. I saw an old camry once with green christmas lights draped under it driving around once =/
