hey guys,
ok so i have a 4 channel amp and a mono amp. i also have a jvc kd r416 head unit. now this i my problem, i have only one rca output on the back of my head unit and i have 3 rca inputs on my amps. 2 inputs on my 4 channel and one set on my mono.
how would i connect my headunit to all amps? i was thinking rca spliters but i have been told that they are not a good choice lol. anyone got any suggestions ? also getting a new headunit is not an option lol
i was also thinking of making my own rca's using the headunit speaker wires lol. like get say one speaker output from the head unit say left rear speaker and connect the positive and negative wires to say a red male rca cord so then you have another rca. has anyone tried this before? would it work ??
cheers
Yes but not the way you have explained. You get low level converters which take the speaker inputs, and output to RCA format. This will allow you independent control of the left/rear of your 4 channel amp, then you use the existing rca out to run the monoblock.
There is all sorts of little fiddly things that will affect the functionality of doing this but to keep it basic, that is the most ideal way to go about it.

Woob is on the money, use a low level convertor otherwise known as a LOC to convert your speaker wires into RCA's.
Or if your 4 channel amp excepts High Level Inputs (this is generally a clip with speaker wires on it) use that and use the one set of RCA's on the headunit to go to the mono.

This was my first thought, and it would solve most problems.
Just checked the specs on his amp, it indeed does have speaker level inputs, your in luck :)

Your Probably wont get them off the shelf, best bet now would be to solder some wires directly on.

Well I am a carpenter... :P But yeah, he had the amp listed in another thread. :)
Ive soldered them directly before to a PPI amp that had a *** plug type speaker output. It was quite the headache but worked.

Its probably better to do it that way, then wait for a price from the manufacture.
Depends how good his soldering skills are. Its pretty delicate work and risks wrecking the ability to use a plug at a later date without tedious solder removal. Also have to be careful how much heat you put into the pins as they may be near heat affected componentry within the amp.

hi guys cheers for the replies, looked at the plug and realised that it was too risky for me to solder lol. i called kenwood and ordered a replacement part which costs $4 lol, pretty happy with that just have to wait for it to come now lol
