Hi,
I have a 1992 Verada Xi with a similar problem. My battery on my key died, so I changed it. The remote is built into the key and only has one button, small phillips screw to change the battery, so nothing was broken.
When I press the button, the remote flashes, nothing happens. I've tried the ACC -> ON three times within 5 seconds, I've tried the same but waiting 2-3 seconds each time. A mitsubishi dealer suggested I turn it to ON and when the dash lights come on, press the button on the key three times. I can't seem to get the car into "programming" mode.
I've read somewhere you need to jump pins 1 and 4 on the data port, though I thought it was for 95 models onwards, I don't want to ruin anything on the car.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, even if it's moving this to the right topic.
Thanks,
Daniel
