So I'm half through changing out my driveshafts right now, and pulling out the passenger side one dumped a shitload of fluid on my drive. Thing is, I need to replace it, and I'm not sure what it is. Is it regular gear oil or ATF or ???? Where do I refill the bastard?

Hopefully you guys can school me. I'm off to yank out the driver side drive shaft. Back soon.

Thanks in advance.

if its an automatic, then refill using genuine fluid. refill thruogh the dipstick.
check the fluid level, start the car, place in D and then turn off. repeat procedure untill level is good again.
if manual use manual trans fliud GL4. not GL5 as it will corrrode your brass syncros. and refill thrugh a bolt hole, on the case. there should be 2. one for filling, one for draining. the filling one is on its side, this is so you can only fill it up to that level before fluid starts comming back out.

Yeah, it's auto. Alright, both driveshafts fully swapped out. Waiting on a mate to get that tranny fluid. Here's to hoping the missus won't be left to flipping her skirt to get around town. :D

Depending on where you are, I stock the genuine SPIII here if that helps but yes, when shafts are removed approx 750ml is required to refill

Yup, I estimated aobut a litre. Mal, I wish I lived closer to you. I'd take you up on it, as well as quite a few other things, one of them being the transmission. Problem is that the wife needs it to roll around for her job all day long. With that tranny lurching when you throw in it reverse, we aren't putting much faith in it lasting longer. With the Mitsu shop closed for the weekend around here, I went and did a bad thing and used an SPIII blend from autobarn. LIke I told the missus, if the tranny goes stupid we'll need to change it soon, but thius gets us going for a while.

There's looking to be another car in our very near future, though, and it's my plan to bring the Magna out to you when the money's free enough to kick her back into perfect shape. Not interested in tricking it out by any means overall, but definitely looking forward to having her run like she should.

Took the car for a spin to the bottle shop and butcher. No more gnarly cracking and popping every time we made a turn. I'd like to think I earned it.

Have you done a gearbox reset? That might help the lurching?
