Can some one help please., i am changing the head gasket on my TS 2.6 magna. I am having trouble locating the timing chain tensioner, to release tension to fit timing chain sprocket back on. Or is there another method to fit the sprocket back on shaft. any help is appreciated.

hi i have the same problem with a 94 tr magna wagon 2.5 efi fitted new head and cant get the cam sprocket back on have tried a 6mmx450mm rod down beside the cam chain theres a slot there for it to slip down but i cant see a hole at the bottom theres a brass coloured projection with a small groove in it which doesnt seem to move any ideas what im doing wrong? rod not long enough?it easily reaches from the crank to the sprocket , i really dont want to have to pull the sump etc etc off the tensioner looks like itis still in its bore or am i unlucky enough not to have the ratchet assemby any tips, advice would be appreciated cheers shayne

you will know you got the tensioner
when the chain is slack
a second pair of hands helps at that time

I got caught with this same prob on a TR 4 cyl had to take
the timing cover and sump off to fix it
