Hey guys on my 2004 Mitsubishi Magna VRX i have a problem recently my middle vents and the rear vents for the air con have stopped working? but the sides still remain working order i took apart the dash and found that there is still air coming through but its light as compared to what it normally would be. almost as its being blocked? it happened around a few weeks after i installed a sound system but don't believe it would be the cause since if something was going to break due to this installment it would of happened almost immediately? has anyone experienced this problem before? cheers Chris.
The climate control air mix motor has most likely died. Mine died while still under warranty and was replaced.

Nope thats not it, I had the same problem after I installed my stereo!
Lemme guess you either partially or completely removed your center console vents so as to get to the faceplate to get the stereo in?
On the left side (well on my magna anyway) of the vent there is a long stiff wire with a little loop on the end of it that probably detached itself when you tugged at the vents. That little loop on the end of the wire slots over a handle inside the magna and that handle is the handle that controls the airflow through your centre vents. (it move via the wire when you adjust the airflow wheely thingy on the vent).
Long story short: remove your air vent again, slide the wire where its meant to go (its difficult to explain but you will figure it out the second you look at it I promise you) then poke your head up into the hardware (lie down at the pedals and look up)and you should see it chilling next to a white round handle thingy. (it wants to slot onto it, and it will snuggly). Then its a matter of keeping it on there while you pound the vent back in haha.

He has a 2004 VRX with climate control and not the standard manual control a/c. It is all motor driven. Chances are the motor has seized. Open the glove box and poke your head in. Then get someone to adjust the outlet selection and see if you can hear motor noise.

Yeah guys i had a more detailed look and looks like the motor under the dash that changes the direction of the air from the dial on the dash isn't working does anyone know what this part is called? i took it to my Auto Electrician and he said Air box or is it what Vlad said and a Climate Control Air Mix Motor? Cheers Chris.

It is the air mix motor. Do a google search for climate control and air mix motor. There are quiet a few detailed articles on it.
From memory, mine did not fail straight away. It started mis-behaving one summer, it would run for a while and then drop airflow to a minimum until one day it stopped all together. Took it to a dealer and explained the symptoms and the dealer guy says needs new air mix motor almost straight away.

Probably ask Mal (madmagna) to see if he has any. No idea how much it costs as mine was replaced under warranty. Someone on here had to get one out of warranty recently. A search of air mix motor may turn it up.

my tf does this too. the front vents barely put out any force, but the drivers feet vent pumps no matter how fast the dial is set.
anyway i can change this so it doesnt aim it all at my feet?

I solved the problem working with my uncle to remove the glove box, centre console and the dash under the steering wheel. We discovered that one of the motors that controls the flow of air had some how jumped out.
Basically ( and sorry for the non technical talk here ) there are two air flow control motors, one behind the glove box and one behind the centre console, but accessible by removing the dash under the steering wheel. The motors are about the size of a pack of cigarettes and have a white gear that has ( for lack of the appropriate term ) a male bit on it. This male bit sits inside a controlling arm and moves up and down to control the air flow. On mine, under the wheel it had popped out. Once placed back in my air control was as per normal.
Hope this helps, but it's important to note that my air con was still fully functional just not the air select.
yeah the air mix motor. godd that it only popped out.
