Hi all, i have just bought a Verada KH XI dark metalic blue colour, the duco is ok but starting to go off in a couple of spots, is there a wax or polish I can use to save the paint from deteriorating further?
cheers

Nope. . It will delay it for a little while but seems to be a common problem :(

Cut and polish might get rid of the dull spots depending how far its gone? Not sure if its possible to just rub off the damaged top layer and have it re-sprayed in clear if it hasn't badly peeled etc.

Yeah, once your paint starts flaking/disintegrating/failing, there's basically nothing you can do bar a respray...

If its only on the top you could 2 tone it? Black top and extra tinted windows?

If it's oxidising...going powdery and flat, then a good quality wax will leave a protective coating and make the flat parts seem glossy again..carnauba wax is the old favourite. This will not work if the paint has oxidised/weathered down to the undercoat. A trick we used on Parramatta Rd car yards in the 60's was to wash the car with a cupful of kerosene in the shampoo - this left a shine on the flattest of finishes and lasted till the car was out of the lot.

Kero can't be good for your paint in the long run =(

Remember that's not the brand...that's the type of wax...usually it will be in the dearer waxes. I could tell you a lot of tricks from the car yards but I'd probably get banned from this forum.

I can highly recomend Meguiars tcch wax 2.0. Made my dark green KH come up like brand new with that deep wet look to it. Very easy to apply and take off.

Came highly recomended by many detailing mates.

Have a crack with Autoglyms Super Resin Polish, then Ultra Deep Shine.

Ive experimented with a few items, and they worked the best for me.

Hi Milo, thanks for your reply, I will take some pics tomorrow after work, its not bad but a couple of spots on the roof and boot, the usual Magna/VERADA problem. I know how bad the paint can end up on these cars and was just wondering is there a wax or polish that can help. cheers
