I have a TL magna AWD and just had my local mechanic replace the alternator afte the old one died. My problem is now the alarm has gone off once per day or so since i got it fixed. I have recoded the keys and they work so I dont think thats the issue and it happens if i am near the car or not, so i dont think its anything to do with the keys. i also noticed that once when i opened the car with the remote and then the rear doors, the alarm beeped on a low noise level about 3 times every 3 seconds and then switched to the 'full' horn alarm until i put the leys in the ignition.

The mechanic did say it was hard to install the new alternator, could anything have been affected by this installation? If not what else could i looks for? Where are the contact switches for the door and bonnet (but i dont think this is the issue as it even happens in still air when in the garage).
thanks

Bonnet switch is close to the alternator, just above it. Your friendly mechanic may have dislodged or damaged it in his frantic activity in removing the alternator. lol

Yep, most likely situation. It is a flexible rubber encased up/down toggle switch.

Ok thanks, found them, they all seemed in order but i pulled them off and made sure they were free to move.

I am beginning to think it may be remote related. I appear to have been near my keys every time I have had an issue - yesterday after unlocking (or trying to), today i was in the garage getting my bike out and then it happened. Could it be some sort of short circuit across my remote?

I looked tonight and put the alarm on and off multiple times, all appeared ok, the green security light consistently went off after 20 seconds. Then at the very end i was about to close the garage and i noticed the alarm appeared to reset - it flashed to arm, and then after 20 seconds or so i saw 3 x 2 pulses of the lights, about 3 seconds appart, and then the alarm fired....i have also noticed the battery clip is loose from the circuit board. The more i think about it, the more i see it been a remote problem, would anyone else agree?

Not sure if the loose battery clip would cause this but I wouldn't think so....but I have had the same problem due to having remote in side jeans pocket with other junk which squashes the remote and holds a key in for more than 3 secs....or under car and same problem. The remote buttons sit a bit proud for my liking. Tight jeans will cause this problem IMO unless you're a sheila when it could be....well, OK.
