G'day guys,
I've been thinking of installing a short shifter into my TF only because there is quiet a large throw involved with the stock riser. I haven't measured it, but anyone with a manual would know it.
Question is has anyone installed one before and whom did they get it through? I watched a mate install one in his Subaru Wagon, which had a reverse cable or some sort attached which i know mine doesn't, but it was fairy straight forward so i don't think that would worry me.
Cheers guys!

I've got one in my car but I didn't install it - I believe it is an RPW one. Madmagna did the install.

I had one, the shift quality is worsened even though the throw is nice and short.

I had one made up by a fellow member here, who did a fantastic job,by following the above link.
For me ,it was fantastic job and the results where great. The shifts were short and sweet, not quick, because ,it is NOT a quick shift, but a short shift.
It does increase the effort more ,and this can make it feel a bit notchy,i have since added 20mm back onto the stick and this has reduce the knotchiness ,but still retained the short throw..
..do it ..you wont be dissapointed

Hulkstar installed a ultra short shifter I had lying around.
Not only that he used a ball type knob so the whole thing is the height of a frickin' Frankfurt.

It's pretty difficult to throw and it's notchy as all hell. Guess the only thing would be is if you're going short, be reasonable lol.

hmm not keen on how people are saying its knotchy as after you install the short shifter..might give it a miss and just get used to the throw, i don't really mind its not like im dragging or need it for ultra fast performance (i know it doesn't make it a quicker throw just a shorter one) but i thought it would be cool.
No worries guys thanks for your input :D

i thought the magnas had a reasonably short throw anyway. all other manuals are longer than my car
my mate said " i didnt know you have a short shifter in this?" when he was driving my car.
i said it doesnt its stock

Fitted the RPW version in mine; yes, it's a bit notchy when cold, but worth it for the better throw length. Wouldn't call it really short throw even then, but it's way better than the standard rowing stroke length.
I did have to modify the mounting cage a bit though to allow full movement of the stick.
Just get a smaller gear knob.

Just get a smaller gear knob.
Which really wouldn't do a whole lot. To make a real difference you have to change the pivot point on the lever, which is how the RPW short-shifter works.

Just get a smaller gear knob.
How would that help with the length of throw? The OP is talking about a short shifter not a quick shifter or a shortened gear stick, though it is a little shorter the idea is to add more to the stick at the bottom end of the fulcrum. Essentially giving the gear stick a shorter throw or lesser throw.
