I have bought a low milage motor from the wreckers. In preparation for fitting new cam belt I have lined up crankshaft sprocket with marker but this has the cam sprockets out by 90deg or 10 teeth.
Is this motor likely to have bent valves.?

Yes, the 6G74 is an interference design. Cant comment if it has bent the valves, another member should be able to help you out with that.

10 teeth is bent valves, there should be no reason for a motor to have this happen unles the front of the engine has been hit and in that case Iwould not come near it

OH really - but even if you line up the crank with the marker it doesnt land on the markers of the cam sprockets everytime... like with the belt... u know wat i mean? if you keeep turning it - you might find that it just lines up...

if the crank to cam pulley ratio is 2:1 then it might line up every 2nd time, but every other time would be 180deg out?
