hey all. got a bit of a problem on my hands. im putting my engine back in after doing a few engine mods. now, wen aligning the clutch, the input shaft in the clutch-housing is to slot into the driven plate (which is situated between the flywheel and pressure plate obviously). now, we have bolted the clutch housing back onto the block so that it is flush. nice and tight and so the input shaft MUST be in the driven plate.
now... before we put the pressure plate back on, should we have made the fingers/springs on the pressure plate (teeth looking pieces, im sure u know wat i mean) point straight across? as in parallel? cause before we put it back in they were pointed outwards, away from the driven plate.
to test that the input shaft was in the driven plate properly, we put it into gear and spun the wheels. the wheels were quite hard to spin BUT the engine DID NOT MOVE. y is this? should it move? is it because the pressure plate fingers were sposed to b parallel, not pointing away (my mate had to have the pressure plate fingers parallel on both his little astra and his MX6 turbo before putting clutch back in) we are leaning towards this but arent totally sure and are hoping we dont have to take the block and clutch housing apart for the 5th time
any help would b appreciated... all we need is this done and my car is hours away from getting back onto the road, killing some commos
thanks in advance,
brendan
