well,
just got my magna running after changing the head gasket. This is the first time I have had this car running since getting the car, and it is really gutless. What could be causing it to be gutless, from what I can remember of these magnas they weren't a gutless engine.
thanks

Check that your ignition timing is correct, i replaced the HG on mine and the timing was out by 1 tooth and it was horrendous

well to replace your gasket... your pistons mus be set to top dead center. and the only way to correctly reset your distributor is to buy a timing light, or have a mechanic do it for you. you can safely get away with setting idle speed at about 12 degrees

my guess would be, not the distributor timing... The ignition timing remains unchanged. However the valve timing can be affected if the head has been removed and the timing chain has not been lined up correctly. I would be checking that the timing marks on the crankshaft pulley to the camshaft pulley are lined up spot on

hi all,
thanks for the replies. After a fair bit of tinkering today, found out that the problems were a diein dizz, incorrect ignition timing, and dirt injectors. Changed the dizzie to a good one I had spare and reset timing, and cleaned the injectors in a ultrasonic cleaner, and it is running do much better.... Now only a very short list before roadworthy

of course the timing changes... you cant remove your head if your timing isnt set to tdc
