Hey guys,

was wondering if it's possible to replace just the standard FWD rear wheel hubs with the Ralliart ones, or if you needed to replace the whole axle.

Would make bolting up things like AWD rear brakes a whole lot easier.

Cheers.

You can get 3.7mm hub spacers from Hopper Stoppers which will allow AWD brakes to bolt up.

They are the same hub, the ralliart rotors at the rear have the same offset as the FWD, is only the AWD that have the different offset

After thread mining it's been said that the Brembo rear brakes can bolt up to the Ralliart or AWD rears without any trouble?

No, the Ralliart need the spacer for the brembo rotors, the Ralliart rear hubs are the same as the FWD, maggie has Ralliart Rear Rotors on his TH, he did not need spacers

If you use Brembo rear rotors, you NEED the spacer, if someone is stating otherwise either they have set up wrongly or for some reason have weird rotors

All Magnas have the same rear hubs when it comes to brakes. The difference is in the rotor offset(hat depth). If you put AWD rotors on a FWD you need rotors spacers. The only time you would need the spacers is for Brembos. You wouldn't put AWD rotors on a RWD as you would need spacers. Just buy Ralliart ones that will go on as they are the same as AWD but are the right offset.

Got it, thanks for the info guys.

Ego, how much did it cost to engineer your Brembos?

Anyone ever paid to have brakes engineered before?

Cost $800, I had a few things done at the same time. Will got $500-$600 for just brakes.

Damn, that's not cheap. What else did you get engineered if you don't mind me asking?

I had brakes, air box and fuel rails done that time. That's my second report, first one was wheels, suspension & exhaust.

Just price up new rotors and pads. I'm sure the calipers are the same. Someone will confirm.

Correct i have now fitted Ralliart rotors to the rear of my magna in place of the AWD with spacer setup. Im still using the AWD caliper. Only reason i did the change was to get a slight bit more tyre "clearance" for the 245 tyres on the 19" rims

so AWD brake calipers with Ralliart rotors and pads = ralliart brakes that fit a std. magna? Or only for the rears?

Ralliart/AWD fronts will bolt up without anything else needed.

The point is rear AWD/Ralliart calipers + Ralliart only rotors = no need for spacers on the rear.

Otherwise it'd be rear AWD/Ralliart calipers + AWD rotors = spacer on the rear.

Rear Ralliart rotors hard to find? Can't find product number. :(

Yep only ones available are genuine.
DBA used to have a part number listed for ralliart magna specific rear rotors but never actually any stock of them. They do have plenty of AWD "hat height" rotors though.

While everyones talking about brakes, is there any differences in between the master cylinder or abs between models? Im guessing now that a couple have been done there is no problems with the 380 front calipers and std rear, or do I need to put something bigger on the back too to try and even out the front-rear balance?

I am against spacers as the hub also helps hold the wheel on, when you space them, you lose the centre hub and then you rely on the wheel nuts to hold on the wheel, I am sure if any engineer worth his or hre grain of salt saw them would knock back immediately

The Ralliart Rotors are genuine only and not supplied by anyone other than mits, this is I guess because they are such a limited run of rotors, thankfully rears dont wear very fast

The ones i did werent just "washer" style ones that pushed the rotor out the required 3.7mm, I actually machined a centre bore "lip" on them to replicate the original hub style loctation. The up side to this means i no longer have to use the shitty plastic or thin alloy "centre" bore adapter that you get with aftermarket rims to allow there fitment legally. The downside to the way i did it meant that i had to machine the centre bore of the actual rotor out, so that the fabricated "spacer" actually pushed into and located within the centre of the rotor, which technically makes it fit like a stock rotor.... Thats why mine were approved by the engineer when he saw them and how they fitted the actual hub :)

I did post up pics on here many moons ago of the actual spacer that i made when i was working for a CNC machining company after i left MMAL.

I agree with ya Mal about the hopper version of the spacers they sell... i dont like them at all for the exact reason you have stated in your post

Probably the best way to do it was how MMAL did it on the protoype "YR" cars and that was space the whole "hub" unit out from the suspenion knuckle. I have a copy of the technical drawings of how the R&D guys made the "shims", i think the drawings are on my computer at home (im at work at the moment)...
I only got hold of those drawings after i had already made the rotor spacers that i used :(

Is there a difference between ralliart and AWD rear Callirpers..?? And are the Rallirt rears differant to standard magna brakes..??

Ralliart and AWD had the same fronts didnt they..?

Ralliart and AWD had the same fronts didnt they..? YES

apart from the disc...which on the AWD had a taller hat size, every thing else is the same

So ,you can grab a set of AWD calipers...as they are the same as the Ralliart ones(good luck finding a set of Ralliart ones any way )

Get original Ralliart discs form the dealer...hate to think of the cost

or ,use AWD discs WITH spacer from HOPPER STOPPERS

..GONE..

Is there really that much of a NEED as such, to replace the rear brakes unless you're FI or Tracking the vehicle..?

RDA do not make them either, I sell RDA and have tried pretty much every place, one place can custom make them but are more expensive than Genuine

Hopper Stoppers still have the spacers off the shelf.

As for 240 each, christ you can get rears for Brembos lol
