Hey all,

I've been offered a set of new Ralliart headers for a good price, and just wondering what gains I'd expect to see from them? I'm due to get my timing belt done soon, so was thinking about getting it done then.

I've got a S1 TJ 3.5 with normal 4 speed auto, have been looking at changing my rear muffler to something with a bit of growl, but not stupid loud.

Will the headers improve economy in any way, or just best to leave them for somebody with a manual who wants to push their car hard?

Cheers, Greg.

Probably only a couple of KW and a few more NM's or torque. If you do the rear muffler and the extractors at the same time you'll be looking at a few more KW and a nice little increase in torque.

So, a bit more power, bit more poke, but how about better economy? If I keep driving it like I do now and not go silly with the go pedal, will it improve?

From what I've heard, putting extractors and a free flowing exhaust on that sounds really nice at high revs can reduce fuel economy simply because you change your driving style just to hear that sound. If you have enough self control, a free flowing exhaust should see a little bit better economy from memory.

I use cruise control to drive around Kalgoorlie....does that say much about my lead foot habit?!

I have had pretty much everything done to my exhaust, all at different times, really there is NO noticeable difference in terms of fuel economy... Power increase wise, yea sure its noticeable, in my experience the biggest gain came from high flow 100 cell cat (maybe its because i did it last). If you are chasing fuel economy then either re flash your ecu for 98 octane or get piggy back & tune it to 98 octane. However given such procedure wont give you much change from $1000 it will take forever to pay for itself....
