Hi all, glad i have found this forum as it has helped me fix many a problems with my TF..
Anyways, my sister has a 97 TF Advance Auto Wagon.. All 6 spark plugs, air filter and oil change done probably 4mths ago, timing belt was replaced 10k ago, but now it only gets 300k's to a full tank of fuel highway driving... Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be?

O2 sensor could be the problem, was that ever changed?

No i didnt think of that, i replaced the fuel filter an hour ago, thinking maybe it could be that... As it has lost alot of power aswell..

really? normally with o2 power would not be an issue, well it would be but a little bit, is the car blowing black smoke at all?

Did the power loss occur straight after the Timing Belt, - maybe the marks are out?

Which oxygen sensor should i look at replacing? No its not blowing any smoke at all.. It has only started loosing power in the past 3wks and the timing belt was done 10,000k ago. had it back to Nundah Mitsubishi to check the timing belt and they said it was all ok as i questioned them about it and they did a re-check for free.. it really has me stumped as to what it could be.. I took it for a drive today and i believe that my CE Lancer would be quicker in a straight line.. So significant power loss..

Magna only has one 02 sensor, its about $120 for genuine one, dont bother with universal aftermarket ones, if its never been changed then really you should do it regardless. recommended interval is 120,000ks
Also check that the accelerator pedal is fully opening the throttle - I've seen this quite a few times especially when people instal aftermarket floor mats that limit pedal travel.
Edit......ignore the above...didn't fully read the post...senility and all that.

Another small thing that can be helpful is to take the airflow sensor out & give it a clean.. It's the part of the intake that has the 7 (?) pin flat plug going into it after the airfilter. Easy to take out and you can get specific aerosol cleaner to do the job for bugger all at supercheap / sprints. Helps to get better economy but cant really explain your loss of power, good luck!

Hi, I was just wondering if there's any sort of ECU reset/relearning/recalibration required after changing the O2 sensor? i.e. disconnect battery before changing and then reconnect after replacing? Or do you just swap it over?
Cheers,
Aj
