Ok, so my type r 12" is ****ed, and I'd like to replace it. Have $800-1000 to replace it, probably including a box, the one I have now is a 1cft sealed box. I will be running an Alpine MRD M1005 mono amp, which is good for 1000WRMS into 2ohms, and I listen to mainly heavy metal, with the occasional doof doof show off track. Any suggestions?

What are people's impressions of the kicker L7 series? Anybody used them before?

Check out Digital Designs, they have some great subs providing you have the money to pay for them.

Yeah, if your looking for SQ then dont go for kicker L-series subs! If you want spl, then go for it! They get crazy loud!

Ahh, wasn't gonna, but I'm sick of my mate spruiking shit about his fully hektik entry level Pioneer crap, "It's so loud, I've got 4000 watts and two subs!" Kicker L7 is on order and apparently has been posted. Should go nicely with 1000WRMS.

How are you finding the L7?

Bit of a late reply, but now it's all nice and bedded in, and tuned, it's effin' loud. Love it for those epic dubstep bass drops, but not as nice for metal. It's not a bad trade off, I just quickly tune it down a bit from the head unit if need be.

yeah, thanks for the reply even if it was late, i have been looking real hard for subs lately and some feedback on the L7 is sweet. I seem to be pretty bent on the idea of RE audio though, just need to get the stuff into Aus :ninja:

In your mates defence, we have proven in many installs that the pioneer entry level (not the shitty blue ones) subs are one of the loudest bang for buck subs available! Not great sounding but plenty of fun!

I'd get a JL Audio. Their quality is good and are renowned for reliability provided you don't abuse them. W3 are considered great before you go to competition series.

If a JL 12W3D2V2 is good, then would 1 or 2x JL 13w3v3 be better?

Single 2Ohm sub, rated at 600W.
Is the M1005 1 Ohm stable? You could get 2 of them :)

Worst part is, that it is in Sydney.

If you have to be logged into MEA to view the post, then here's most of the text:
