There's a bit of info in there, 72kg for the block, mains saddle and crank.

Any chance 3-4 people could carry one around with it chained to a pole? Or too awqward/heavy

(edit - also with trans attached)

if it's 72kg you'd expect 4 people could carry it easily (although it may be a bit ungainly due to it's shape)

but also the added weight of heads, cams, transmission, fluids, and anything else still attached, how much extra weight does that add? Just a little more, or does it double it?

i remember having just an engine shipped from Adelaide , it was 200kg or so. the gearbox may be 100kg more. best off asking Mal , he ships them all the time.

Myself and Mal lifted an engine (minus transmission and heads) and it was manageable, but not something you'd wanna carry far..
My advice, fork out and get an engine crane. Less risk of one of you f#cking your back...

lol If it weighed 72 Kg I'd be able to pick it up no tools. (Not that I would)
No, full engine and gearbox is at least 300 kg, but 4 people should be able to move it, even if you only put it on a piece of old carpet and drag it around. Don't try lifting it into a car by hand though, definitely needs a (rental) engine crane. A bit hard to co-ordinate 4 people holding up an engine and gearbox at shoulder height and lowering it GENTLY without smashing something. lol

Just out of interest, is it possible to take the engine/trans out by lifting the body?

Going to try and get a crane for the in/out bits, but need to carry it from the carport across stepping-stoned grass to the shed, and eventually back again.

Try some rope and a long steel bar, with some carpet under it. That way two people can pull on the carpet while the other two lighten the load.

thats the proper way. only problem is getting enough clearance under the car to slide the engine out
