the bulbs in the cluster are on the back of the cluster no need to pull the cluster apart just twist half a turn and pop out the bulb holder.they are a T10 bulb.

Unless you are real good with these things, these from series 2 TJ onwards are the leds that are part of the board, the real little thin ones. Not sure if they can even be removed and if so how but I know many have stuffed clusters trying

Did this today in my TJ (series 1 01) easy as 6 screws 3 clips and about 5mins work even maganged to have 3/4 golbes in the right way to start with.

This being done im not a huge fan of the red led......... Red needles red line red odo tooo much red......
Beofre it was a nice mix of red needles the red line and white instraments.......

That and now the stereo a/c contorls look out of place

That is awesome, but the OP has a series 2, is totally different

You cant use standard LEDs to do this. You need wide angle LEDs or make your own strips like i do. Even light spread and look excellent

Is it possible to simply change the cluster? Assuming the only diference is the LED being soldered to the board. Thats if the OP is Really keen to do the mod

Is that for the A/C and stereo? I did notice the light spread on the cluster was a little uneven.

Not sold on the red either, and thankfully niether is the other half so probably going to remove them and put blue ones in instead.

Blue ones look good IMO :) For the cluster and panels. With the standard LED replacements most places sell, you get to much of a spotting effect. The light is very direct and uneven. Least with wide angle ones you dont get that and the light is distributed evenly!

Ok I've done the centre console had to add an extra hole or two to even up the wash n used a Dremil to make the hole in the ashtray bigger n stuck alloy tape in the socket housing to amp the reflection... Did the same in the shifter light housing looks great... I'll take picks n post later... Oh n I'm about to attempt the cluster now so wish me luck and if successful I'll post up pics of that otherwise assume that the cluster was propelled at the floor due to epic fail...

There once was a madman who had a workaround for a Blue Cluster in a TW.... It was never really bright, but it was blue, and evenly lit.......

I might be able to, as there are a SMD led and you need a good skills with a solder iron and some added know how :)

Do you want one to practice on Sparky.....

I'm pretty steady with the iron but I got a choice of 3 size SMDs which ones do I need??? 0603, 0805 or 1206???

Would love to practice on one but I don't really want to destroy your spare, so I'm going to get hold of some SMD LEDs and practice on some PCB that I will make up. When I'm comfortable with my skills I will borrow your cluster :)

Mate I'm unsure, I never seen a third gen cluster. Your best bet is to have look yourself and measure by eye.
