They are seat covers, not skins.

These are just seat covers that go over you original seats
I have seen these in acouple cars now and they really are that bad tbh, I also have these in my car
An no having these in a TL/W is not illegal because they have the cut out for the airbag which you have to do yourself but is marked on the covers

Some original Howe leather skins available on eBay.
These are "NEW INNOVATION LEATHER LOOK SEAT COVER", reminds me of the slippery vinyl material used on the HD Holden way back in the 1960s.
*Shudder*.
Burns skin real well in Summer. Never again!
- - - - Still, if you are after a retro look. - - - - lol
And don't think the original fabric will stay in good condition under them either, they will get real grubby and get rubbed to death.
(In case I haven't been very clear - I DON'T like them! lol)

I had those in my car, really they are good for what you pay, to have proper vinyl trim (not seat covers) will cost you about $1200+, i had for about 4 years (i did pay another $200 to have them fitted proffesionally, trimmer though it was good idea to reskin rear seats & it worked quite well) so they looked really good... If you start talking real leather re-trim, start thinking about $3000+

ill look into Vinyl trim then as it seems to be allot cheaper then leather is there much quality difference as far as i knew the smell is the only difference and i'm looking for a orange and black setup so i reckon vinyl will suit that as they come in a range of colors and styles.

Good thing with vinyl is that it doesn't need special care like leather, on a negative side its not as wear resistant, after about 4 years clear cote on drivers seat started to wear out (next to the door), also vinyl gets hard with time so small cracks may develop (so try to keep it out of the sun) but again its good what u pay for them & they will last you long enough, you can always replace just one seat cover anyhow. Apearance wise, i have leather in my car now, really visualy its impossible to tell.

i got mine through http://www.proseat.com.au/ . they are leather re-trims. so you have to take out the old cloth and put it on your self. its an easy job, just a little time consuming, but scince they are a retrim they fit tight to the conture of the seat rather than normal seat covers which will always be loose. here are some pics of the product and my install check em out if you want http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80410&page=3

How much did you pay for your leather re trim full setup? i assume it would be the same as i would be looking at since i would go double tone color as well. Cheers

Honestly do you know any trimmers? If you just remove the rear and front seats and ask for a quote, I am sure it wouldn't be $3,000+. You might be surprised.

Trus me ive been looking around, leather costs approximately x3 the vinyl cost,...... That is proper leather
FYI, reborn leather (aka bonded leather) is NOT proper leather.
Reborn leather is a cheap by product of proper leather, hence the cost. Its basically left overs, proper car leather is made from top layer, when you extract top layer, you have by product, this by product is then bonded with the rest of left overs amongs with some additives, in order to replicate the top layer appeareance polyurethane (vinyl) is used, so essentially what you feel & touch is the same vinyl. Futhermore its against the law to tell consumers that the product is real leather.
Bonded leather or reconstituted leather is a material made of varying degrees of genuine leather combined with other substances to give the appearance of leather at reduced cost. Bonded leather can be found in furniture, bookbinding, and various fashion accessories. Examples of products that are most commonly constructed with different varieties of "bonded leather" are: books, diaries, art books, desk accessories, bags, belts, chairs, and sofas.
"There are different types of bonded leather, but the type being used on upholstered furniture today is a polyurethane or vinyl product, backed with fabric and then a layer of latex or other material mixed with a small percentage of leather fibers in the product's backing material. The actual leather content of bonded leather varies from manufacturer and the quality they are presenting. The polyurethane surface is stamped to give it a leather-like texture. In the home furnishings industry there is much debate[1] and controversy over the ethics of using the term "bonded leather" to describe a vinyl upholstery product.
Other types of bonded leather include fragile paper-backed bonded leather constructions used to cover books and desk accessories. These bonded leathers may contain a smaller proportion of leather and have some leather content in the product's surface, hence there may be an actual leather smell."
Really good article on the topic...

Your best chance will be keeping an eye on the FS here! When the leather ones come up ( which they do regularly) JUMP ON IT! Id say you would be looking at $1000 at the very most for a very nice 2nd hand leather interior from here

PS im not trying to say the product is bad, once fitted im sure noone will able to tell the difference & it will propably last just as long as normal leather, but i believe its not ethical to use term "leather" & mislead consumers.

I have been getting quotes for a while now and usually everything adds up to around the $3,000 mark if not higher for just leather interior that's not fitted as well and if this vinyl package is going to do the same job and cost less why not? and yes i do believe its wrong to mislead consumers by saying products are something when they are not....

Just be careful with vinyl as there is vinyl and then there is vinyl...what I mean is this... There are different grades of quality of vinyl. Some is cheap crap (usually out of China) with poor quality fabric backing that vents far too much of the plasticiser in the hot sun (the stuff that keeps the material bendable) for health's sake (very carcinogenic). The vinyl used in Aussie cars of the 60s and 70s was top-notch stuff made here by Nylex. It was super durable, didn't expel too much of the plasticiser, and was resistant to cracking unless it had been allowed to bake in the sun for years. You can still get upholstery-quality vinyl...just hop along to any good motor trimmer and they should be able to point you in the right direction or, failing that, just google the stuff. The US-made vinyl is the best. I'm not sure we even make vinyl in Australia any more.
And remember...vinyl seats are okay in cool weather BUT in summer they are a bastard! If you only have skimpy clothes on they will make you sweat and then stick to your skin. One of the blessings of manufacturers moving to fabric seats was the doing away of the "summer stickiness". :)
