Anyone done the change from Monroe GT Gas to Boge shocks on a 3rd gen with Kings lows?

What was the difference in ride quality?

I like the ride quality of the Gt Gas. Feels like the car is not lowered. Problem is if you hit a decent pot hole or change in road surface, the rebound rate isnt good enough and its easy to max out the strut causing an all mighty bang through the cabin.

Feedback would be great.. Thanks.

Mate, you know I did that, in my wagon lol

Was an awesome difference, no more bumping around, no more bottoming out, front felt much much better as well

Monroe and kyb rely on gas for rebound but the boge use valving for dampening and let the spring handle the rebound which is how it should be

A nice difference in ride quality, seem firmer yet less harsh....however youll still bottom out the fronts on occasion, may be due to the extra kgs of the AWD. Mines the lighter model also & with the near 15kgs of battery moved to the boot as well.

I never liked the Monroes! Not really happy with the Kings lows on the front either....a little soft for the AWD also i think!

I would also recommend switching springs to Dobinsons. They are a thicker spring, better compression and rebound then the Kings, and work awesomely well with the Boges. It's the combo I'm running in my AWD.

What height options do they run in them?

Reason i ask is that i am runing king lows in the front and the higher SP's in the rear,

Reaso for it is due to the gas tank in the spare wheel area. Need the sp's to get it to sit right.

Do the Dobinsons have this option? Also, i'm not after a stiff ride. The current combo of kings lows and gt gas are perfect ride quality, nearly like standard height comfort but they max out too easily on bad road surfaces.

They have the same range as the Kings, I'm running the same combo as I have a boot install.
They have VRX fronts which I run, they are roughly 25% stiffer but have found to be perfect for the extra AWD weight. I haven't bottomed out yet.
There website (http://www.dobinsonsprings.com) has an extensive list of cars, check there cataloque
Also i believe Mal runs this combo in his wagon and loves it.

Koni Yellow, I would not touch reds even if they were still avail when yellows are avail.

Have them on pretty much soft, the setting is not designed to be installed on hard and are externally adjustable so can be settled in anyway. Rears only are avail in red for the wagon sadly but is not too big an issue to adjust, is a matter ondoing 1 bolt and adjust, not as easy as the yellows though

Is it a nice smooth ride? Boge's are a stiffer ride than the gt gas right? Koni smoother then Boge?
What the Yellow's worth for the front 2 mate?
