The wife pulled up the drive in our TE Magna Sedan closed the boot lid and a few seconds later... BANG! (Very Loud!!) WTF was that! Opened the boot and found the tension bar (if that's the correct term) for the boot had snapped. Luck it didn't happen while the boot was open with someone accessing the boot.

My question is, is there a conversion available to gas struts? If not where do I get a replacement tension bar from and should I attempt to replace myself or is it too dangerous?

Cheers,
vergs.

Just remove it - the broken bits - and get another from the wreckers. They are under a lot of tension so be careful. Don't let the lid fall on your head in the meantime!

Conversion - just get a 380. lol They have cute little gas struts.

Mums in the TH snapped when I was little, I think Dad just got another pair from a self serve wreckers and put them in. If your boot had a spoiler, try and find some from a boot that also had a spoiler, they might be a bit more tension-ey to lift the extra weight.

By this I assume there is no conversion :(
