Hey guys,

Just noticed front drivers side headlight isn't working on normal, but it is on high. Anyone know off the top of their heads what type of globe I should buy for it?

Also, when we bought it, the people said the timing belt has been done, but they also said it was just serviced, and when we got an oil change and new oil filter, it was clear that it hasn't been done for a long time, so now we're not sure if we should trust them about the timing belt. Is there any way of telling if the timing belt has been done lately or not?

Thanks heaps

H4 are the globes for the low/high beam. Just fitted Philips power2night globes to mine, heaps better than the ones I replaced. Not sure about the timing belt though. How many K's has your magna done? If it doesn't have service records of it being done and your not sure, it may be wise to replace it to be on the safe side.

Timing belt - remove the front top cam belt cover, and look at the back of the belt. If the writing is clear and intact, its a fresh belt. I replaced a belt at 110,000 km and 9 years. lol Writing and numbers were just about gone, wear from where the back - smooth side - runs on the water pump pulley. Don't bother looking at slack in the belt, even a new one is slack with the engine off.

old belt:

New versus old.

Thanks heaps guys! Globe replaced, works perfect now!

I wish I knew what a cam bet cover was lol, I'm completely clueless when it comes to looking under the bonnet. All I pretty much know is where to put the different fluids and oils and that's about it! Hmmm... Might have to pay someone to have a look for me lol!

As a rule of thumb the belt is usually changed every 100,000ks or every 5 years (which ever comes first). If the car hasn't been serviced, more than likely the belt hasn't been done. Its worth checking it out, thats one thing you definitely don't want to snap, otherwise its goodbye Magna :(

If you're need you can get yourself a workshop manual and learn how to do it, if you're not then a good friendly mechanic should be able to give you a heads up, if its over 200,000 its more than likely due for a change any way...
