Hi,
My 04 verada has a slight, what i suppose could only be described as a miss, when stopped in drive, feels like its idling about 100rpm too low which is causing it to run a little rough, not all the time but when it does happen it is annoying, any ideas? Ive had the base idle checked and reset and its only in drive, when i shift the car back into neutral, it runs fine again. Happens when the engine is cold and hot and at random intervals. :S

maybe the Idle Speed Control motor needs cleaning? they often get carbon deposits which can cause such an issue.

oh ok, how do i check that, is it easy for someone with little mechanical experience to do?? haha :chainsaw:

well , if youre able to take the large rubber air intake tube off , check near where it joins the throttle body , you will see 2 squarish holes about 8mm at the bottom of the TB. if this area is covered in black soot it can be cleaned using Carby and Throttle Body cleaning fluid. its an easy job for a mechanic if you cant do it yourself.
put it this way if it hasnt been cleaned before its a good place to start looking for idle issues.

no worries , you should have said it was LPG though , thats a whole new ball game. might be a mixer or regulator issue.

Dont think so, because the same problem existed before the LPG installation and the symptoms haven't changed and it occurs when running on both petrol and lpg which would suggest the lpg is irrelevant

My KL AWD, occasionally had a bit of a rough idle - felt the same, like it was idling over about 100 or so RPM too low when in drive.
Got my Idle Speed Controller cleaned out - and it made the world of difference - the car had to retrain itself to idle at the correct RPM when in drive...
After about a month - maybe 2, the low idle in drive is starting to represent itself, so its either time for another clean or time for a replacement ISC...

I just cleaned mine today, very easy to do, and made a world of difference.

Is this something Mitsubishi do at any particular service interval?

There supposed to do it when the clean your throttlebody, but I'd say it's apprentices that service your car and don't know or care about it and supervisors not supervising.
This sounds exactly the Same thing with my TL Wagon..... I'll Give it a Clean out tomorrow.... Cheers Guys!!!
