I've raised this before but its driving me crack(ers)
When I turn left slowly eg into my driveway I get this loud crack from the rear end. Doesnt sound metallic. I think it may be the rear quarter bumper panel flexing. I have jumped up and down in the boot, tapped everywhere but nothing.
I have an idea there is some foam behind the bumper panel for rigidity and I am thinking it has come adrift but only speculation. Any ideas?
PS doesnt make the same sound turning right.
Is it a loud sound? Could be a spring that isn't seated 100% and just on that move it bangs.
I was driving a ute which would make a loud crack from the front right wheel when reversing out a driveway with a lot of steering angle - it's just the spring.

i know the noise your talking about. Mine does it too, its like when ever there is body flex or something. My now ex mrs 380 did the same thing with stock springs so i'd rule out an un seated spring. My black vrx 380 also did it. Never really bothered me tho.

Mine makes this noise also, not very often though. Usually if it does it I am turning right out of my street, and it's when it kicks down from third to first (rolling through the give way sign in lolgrandma mode.) I haven't been able to isolate where it's coming from, ie the back like you are suggesting...

When i go over a bump in the ralliart i get a loud crack from the passenger door. Feels like the glass is being squeezed from the top and bottom or something. I know it's unrelated to 380s but yeh, just one of those things... Nothing's broken or anything so i don't think there is much we can do?

Cheeers Guys I'm glad I'm not alone.
I will check out the spring but Its sounds more bodyflex/panel related. Its quite loud and bloody annoying. I cant trace it apart from its in the rear somewhere. Cheeers

The 380 bodies don't flex, could be rear sway bar rubbers

This is a well known issue on 380s (worn/stuffed rear sway bar bushes) and I think Chris has already replaced his.
But I have found that the sway bar mounting bolts and especially those on the end links can come loose, and when they do the rear end makes alll sorts of wierd and wonderful creaking & groaning & cracking noises.
So Chris, I would check for loose swaybay bolts/nuts, and while you're at it check for any other loose nuts or bolts in the rear end.

its not the jack is it, hitting the panel???
Come down to one of the meets and we can probably try and replicate it in the car park ... with someone on the outside listening in for the "crack"....oh and we can also meet you in person...lol

I have it booked in on tuesday at my local mechanic to checkout. Its not the jack or the cover panel. I have completely stripped the boot out.
I will try to get to a meet one day. Would like to catch up with you guys. Cheeers

Well they test drove it. Heard the crack but couldnt find anything while up on the hoist. They reckon its a shocker on the way out?
At least theres no loose bolts etc. So I will have to wait and see if it gets worse. They did say however there was 'slight' rubbing on rear tyres. Oh dear!
So, If I need rear shockers where and how much? and maybe look at getting rear guards rolled. Anyone had that done? Cheeers

If it's only slight rubbing you can get some multigrips or similar with insulation tape over the jaws & slowly work the edge over back & forth. That's what I originally did with the superlows when i had rubbing.
