When I turn my car on my subs make a loud thump. Is this just because its a cheap amp with no speaker protection circuit?
I'm upgrading amps soon anyway as I'm afraid of clipping with my current one but wanted to confirm my suspicions on this annoyance.
Cheers.

Im curious which amp do you have?

Apparently its a "BOSS" but I contacted BOSS for a manual and they seemed to think it was a counterfeit copy LOL. Either way its soon to be trashed I got it free when I bought the subs.
I noticed you have a whole lot of Soundstream gear, how would you rate it? Thinking about one of their monoblocks to replace the "BOSS"

Boss is pretty much the worse brand you can get. Not being mean but throw it out. They are actually known as fire hazards. They just never bothered fixing them
Soundstream amps are completely different! Very good amps IMO and very happy with mine :)

Can't help but wonder if the counterfeit amp would be better than a legit one, considering the legit ones catch on fire...

+1 for soundstream having good amps if your willing to pay the price for them
