personally i hate the feel of superlows, what sort of roads are in your area ( lots of potholes or bumps and your prolly better of going lows instead which still provide a nice height)

Go Lows mate, you'll get a better handling car and still retain suspension travel, SL are really IMO suited for showcars and supersmooth, blemish free non existent bitumen

King Lows drop 50mm from memory. My Lovell Superlows drop like 55mm.
Lovell/Dobinson Superlows are not as bad as everyone thinks.
It's people that compress them like 50mm on top (they exist trust me) that have a crap ride quality.

Use a good shock like Boges and new bumpstops and you should be fine.

I wonder if the people who are saying Superlows are bad have:
King Superlows
Crappy Shocks and/or little to no bumpstops
Rims over 18 inches.

Any of these will result in worse ride comfort. Tick 2 or more and what did you expect? lol

No before shots at this angle but just look at your own cars ride height and you'll get an idea of difference.

I never said i had lovells superlows. I have pedders superlows. With brand new sportsryder shocks, new bumpstops and even when i had 15" rims it was horrible!

I think the problem with your set up is the word "Peddars" lol, that and 19" rims with a thousand kilos in sound gear :P

Can't tell you why, maybe people are used to different things. Can't expect the same level of comfort when lowering.

What is everyone personal favorite brand of lows to go with? i had Pedders Sports Ryder on my last car VT Commodore but i heard from other people that pedders are too soft?

Lovells > Kings. Dobinsons I don't know since they only recently became easily available. They seem to be a good quality spring though.

Gotta remember Lovell Lows don't drop as much as King Lows.

okay mate ill have a look around and search for prices would i be required to get anything else asides from the springs? as i heard when you get to a certain level you need to upgrade certain other items? or is that just for anything lower then lows* Cheers

Lovell and Dobinson springs are stiffer springs, where as the Kings aren't as stiff. The Lovell and Dobinson Super lows aren't as low as the King Super lows (not too sure about Pedders though) which means the King Super lows will bottom out easier.

Edit: With that said i really love my King Lows, the car still looks decent and handles amazingly.

Kings seems to have the best reputation for springs but i am willing to try something different depending if that decision will cost me more money how much is it for a low* setup for my TL VRX? anyone know approx?

I have king Sport suspension i think.... one higher then lows. Even though the rear wheel still manages to tuck...think they sagged or something. Love the ride though. Very firm but still good over all the little bumps. I wouldn't go any lower.

mmm does anyone have experience with doing this on TL/TW models as it seems to be different for each model... i will have 18x8 wheels on the car not to big...so will i have to roll my guards or do anything if i go lows?

You should be fine with 18x8. Depends on offset ofcoarse but i've never heard of magna drivers having trouble with 18x8 on lows. Mine are 18x8 and have plenty of room.

I'm running Kings Superlows + 20's most likely crap shocks and it can be a bit harsh at times but I'm used to it....

With the Dobinson lows for the fronts, there are 2 types to choose, std and VRX, the VRX are 25% stiffer than std.
I have the VRX springs in my AWD, which helps deal better with the extra weight.
Yes they are stiffer, but I found they have better ride compliance than the better known Kings. They are also a thicker spring and have more coil for the same height than the Kings.
Being made in Rockhampton, Dobinsons deliver to your door anywhere in QLD.

Mine has Lovell Superlows F+R. No problems here, a little rough on the really bad roads/potholes, but not worth sooking over. Much better looks/handling wise :D Th g/f could hardly spot the difference on normal roads ;)

Does anyone know how much approx. i am looking at to getting a set of 'low' Dobinson springs package for my TL VRX fitted? will save up for it as soon as my extractors are bought and fitted.

Mits-Fix sells them for around $270 for a set of four, if I recall correctly. Fitting is a couple of hours labour.

I would be seriously considering new shocks at the same time.

I put king lows on the j and it was a nice ride height. Only issue I had was my flares. But you'll be fine with lows. I went through this whole issue a few weeks back and the general consensus was to go lows.

the car pictured here is a TF, the TJ panels gave me a little extra clearance but it still bottomed out around bumpy roads. Looks like a TF/H yr doing, mine had Lovells, which from memory(it was long ago) were s/l and didn't bottom until they got a bit older, after changing out the panels. Stiff KYB shocks helped but once they age, well, like all things, they sag hehe

Looking at getting the same setup for my Rada shortly. If you dont mind my asking, how much did those king lows and boge shocks set you back from Mitz-Fitx?

Ok, so mixed feelings here. I am a fan of "As low as you can go". Was looking at Kings Super lows and Koni's all round. Have coil overs priced, but told they need mods to fit. Not looking to skimp on cost, but whats the consensus? Who has examples of decent ride height and with what set up?

Red Valdez

Superlows are only for the front - there's no King springs lower than 'Lows' for the rear of a Magna.

Looking at your photos in your album, I would guesstimate Superlow fronts to sit around the same as your current springs. I reckon a set of Lows on the rear would actually raise the car. So don't go for the Kings if you want to go lower.

If you want to go ridiculously low, I would be looking at coilovers. Superlows are simply too soft and have too little travel.

LAME! I think my car sits too high. Especially at the front. Who has coilovers and what are they/where from? Prices? HELP!!!

Speak to megatron (forum sponsor) about a set of Ksport coilovers. There's a couple of members who run them (QMD//801 and el3ment off the top of my head).
