Thats weird,
My mate with 2 x kenwood subs has them in a sealed box facing the back of the car in his ED falcon - it gets heaps more bass when shutting the boot.
The only thing i can think of is that the subs require more air to circulate to provide maximum bass - due to it being a ported box - than what is available with the boot lid closed.
I may be right off - but that would be my understanding - Y r they not in a sealed box??

Thats odd, coz whenever i close my boot it gets louder... Mine are facing towards the back and are sealed.

I have the same problem when I close my boot mine gets softer. and I was told why but I can't remember now. I think it had something to do with cancellation. I will find out and let you know.

Try moving the box around and see what works best.. Apparently bass notes have a longer wavelength (freq=velocity/wavelength, velocity of the wave stays roughly constant.. the lower the frequency, the larger the wavelength... Plug in the speed of sound for the velocity and you find that for lower frequencies you get wavelengths several metres long)... Sometimes the wave needs to "mature" or travel further in order for it to be at it's best audible quality... Rear loading sometimes helps in that the wave travels through the boot and back, but sometimes it isn't related at all...
Umm... just try moving the box..... (I'm not making sense anymore.. That's what you get after coming home late from work)

If i put them in a sealed box, and face them out would it make any difference :?: [/quote]
