Just read the manual on changing headlight bulbs as ive bought some whiter philips vision extreme or something bulbs and it says you have to remove the tyre for the left hand side bulb housing and go through the mud guards and everything..... is this correct? do you seriously have to remove the windscreen water bottle on one end and take off a whole tire and mud guard on the other to change a bulb? every other car ive owned you just pull off the sealed cover and change bulbs?? :S

And your point is?
If its too hard to do a few simple things, then leave the originals in.
It's called "design winning over functionality".

LOL!
We figured this one out on the QMD Workshop Day and the short and sweet answer is yes..
Much easier also if you have small hands..

Those are exactly the steps that I completed...and after doing it once, I hope to never do it again...lol...its not difficult, but it is fiddly, and I guess the question is, how often do you change your bulbs anyway? I've had mine in for over two years now, and they are working fine...fingers crossed...lol

Yes, it seriously is that hard. There's no simple way of doing it. I had the dealer replace the passenger side globes on mine as I didn't have the time or patience to do it - I was told the mechanic removed the fuse box to get access, rather than via the wheel splash cover. On the bright side, it probably won't need doing again for a while (if you're lucky!).

true it is abit of screwing around but a hell off a LOT cheaper than paying a mechanic to do it

If your relatively handy and know how to take a wheel off its not brain surgery?
First crack i had at it i did both sides in halfa..
Only pain the backside for me was getting the splash guard back on, but even that was too hard..
Seriously mate have a crack at it yourself before you pay someone, if you saw it done you would be kicking yourself for spending good money on it.

haha oh i should have explained that my mechanic is a good mate of mine at work whos been doing mechanical for over 35years and i get very decent mates rates and hes not even gonna charge me to do the work, i just dont want to stuff up anything with the splash guards or braking any of the, somewhat, flimsy plastic screws etc and yeah lol, im not that useless, i can change tyres and do most basic maintenance myself :) speaking of headlights, anyone know a good place to get a nudge bar for a VL 04 verada with spotlight mounts? Best price ive gotten so far is $500 from AMA, all the other places dont seem to stock that item anymore!?
Ok guys. Here is the low down on changing light bulbs for TL/W KL/W (courtesey of constable steve (steevo):
1. Drivers side is easy, take out the washer bottle (2 10mm bolts and unhook plug for washer) and you can acess both the low and highs easily, just unclip and replace the H4`s,the highs are buggers, gotta twist etc then once free, seperate globe from holder and plug then transfer onto new globe and refit ,you will see once you have done them once!
2. For the passengers side, remove battery first then the 1x 10mm bolt for the fusebox that is bolted to the little bracket (at the very rear of the fusebox towards the strut tower,it holds it to the body)then lift up box to free it form the plastic slide brackets and monuver out of the road to gain enough acess to the globe area
