Have had this rattling noise from the engine bay for a few months now. It isn't there when cold but when the car warms up.

I have had the timing belt, all timming belt related pulleys and water pump replaced and it is still there. It is also there when the drive belts (AC, alternator and power steering) have been taken off.

Also doesn't seem like lash adjusters to me.

File name: VIDEO0003.3gp File size: 4.07 MB (http://www.fileserve.com/file/2445HYC)

Please help identify. Thanks

Inside the exhaust where the front & rear bank engine pipes join there is a flow divider which has a habit of working loose / breaking off. It then sits inside the exhaust & rattles. If you take the catalytic converter out & have a look inside the piping / converter you may find this is what's causing the rattle.

Cheers

I have already had the front exhaust pipe off (Y-piece) and there seemed nothing loose or broken inside .

Might also be the heatshield covering the exhaust manifold, these come loose with time and age.

that just sounds like the exhaust is leaking, cuz when its cold all the pipes are more solid, when it heats up it may flex the pipe open in a cirtain spot and WALAH! exhaust leak :D

I have already taken the heatshields off the front exhaust. the front exhaust including flex pipe has been taken off and all seemed fine. I will take it apart and check it again, just to be sure.

I have exactly the same noise in my 2001 Diamante. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4i5ltjF5i28&feature=youtu.be It appears when the engine is warmed up to normal temperature. It is only recognizable when the car is idling. It disappears after 1500 RPM. Wherever I go with this, no one can identify the reason so far. Please, post the solution, if you figure it out. Thanks.

Really hard to tell from the videos but it may be engine "knock" or "ping". Knock occurs more often on a warm engine and many time goes away when the engine revs are increased. Try a higher octane fuel or an octane booster and see if it helps. May also be caused by bad knock sensor or carbon buildup in the valve areas.
