I'm getting ripped off aren't I?

I honestly didn't think it would cost $400 for a mechanic to switch the springs on my TR for a lowered set I already own.

Also, LPG safety checks, the ones you need to do every ten years. I bought the car this year, the system was installed 13 years ago (I don't know if it's been checked, I'd assume so because it was a government car until like '98, are there any plates/markings on the system to see if it has been?) but I rang an LPG guy here and he quoted $350 for the safety check, is that right?

Yeah - you might've wanted to get a quote first before going ahead. That price is way too high!

LPG checks are or were about $250 a couple of years ago. They do not re stamp any plates etc, there is just the re certification certificate and you have to carry that with the car where ever it goes. The boys in blue try tpo defect you based on the original ID plate and if you cannot produce your certificate, then that plate stands and you are off the road. Haha pity I don't live in Adelaide then. I'll call a few other places and see what prices I can get around here, hopefully they're all not the same.
