I literally bought a 2002 TJ Advance station wagon about 4 hours ago. It did not have any remotes with it.

I have 3 remotes that worked from previous cars.

Problem is i cant seem to get the car into the program mode (indicators DO NOT flash after 3 on/acc cycles). using the key, central locking works, security light comes on with key.

Any ideas? i checked all fuses just in case and they are ok.

I have tried it from 2 cycles to 10 cycles... fast, medium fast, normal(what has worked with other magna's), slow

Ive got a similar problem in my KH, got a remote from a wreckers, new battery etc, it programs in after 5 turns, sometimes 6, the indicators all flash and it worked for months before it stopped, then a week the next time, now it only lasts a day if that before it seems to become unprogrammed?

Remotes are a pain, I've stopped using mine on my TJ because half the time its not working or sets off the alarm. Use the key only, much more reliable. lol

Wagons and Sedans have the same 3 button remote dont they?

you remote is a black 3 button ,small grey , red and green buttons , sedans and wagons are the same

I do this nearly every day , you have to have all the doors and bonnets closed in some models ( I just do it anyway) , then turn the ignition off and on to you see the hazards flash( best to count the times then do it again ) , when the hazards flash you just have to press the any of the buttons and your done, also you should see the hazards flash when you press the button

if its still not working its the antenna that needs changing

hope this helps

Xclackers...have a look at this page. Hope it helps you:

According to the information in this link, once a TJ has been programmed with four remotes, you cannot use the "ignition flick/button-hit" method for registering further remotes. Perhaps your wagon has reached that limit, being that it's second or maybe even third hand. The link does not mention how to reset this limit but I'd dare say a dealer with the right Mitsubishi-programmed hand-held computer/analyser would be able to do it simply by plugging into the service port and punching in a code.
