Gday
I want to put an oil pressure gauge in my TP wagon. It has a TS engine BTW. I want to install the gauge into the door inbetween the handle and the centeral locking switch, mainly because I dont want it on the dash where it can be seen plain as day and it would prob get killed if it was below the dash.
Anyways, where its going isnt the problem, I paid extra to get an electrical gauge to save me running a hose through the firewall. What I would like to know is where exactly does the pressure sensor go? Pics would be a great help.
Also where is the best place to run a wire through the firewall without taking the dash off or anything stupid like that?
Thanx heaps!

here is the low down bro
what u need is a tee piece with a single male thead and two female threads. the male screws into the block where the std oil pressure sensor goes. then the std oil pressure sensor screws into the tee piece into one of the female parts and your new gauge sensor screws into the other side

for the piece goto pirtek or enzed or places like that. pirtek have served me well over the years go there i reckon, they are more than happy to spend 20 minutes to help a customer even over a 7 dollar sale. rare now days.

Thanx! that sorts a fair bit out. You wouldnt happen to know the size/thread of the T that Id need? It doesnt really matter but If anyone knows it would help.
I havent seen where the standard sensor goes, could someone plz explain or post a pic of where this is.

2.6? i think its on the front of the engine, the left hand top corner of the block looking from the front. there is a black clip over it.
pull it out and waddle on down to pirtek and they can use it to find the thread and the correct items. you might need two or three bits joined up to get the right thread on all three ends of the tee
hope that helped

Yeah I found it, was staring me in the face. I went down to Autobarn (Where Im getting it from) and they said the gauge comes with the T piece and adaptors, which is a bonus. Still they could be having me on, the guy who told me didnt seem 100% sure. We'll see, supposed to be in tomorrow, though nothing's ever on time in Tassie.

Well the gauge finally came in yesterday, only a week and a half late, thats Tassie for ya. The gauge didnt come with the T-piece so Im going to have to get one myself.
A bit of a problem though, theres no busses where I live, I dont have access to another car, and I dont like the idea of pulling the sensor out of a hot engine and burning myself on the extractors/heat shield to show some bloke the sensor only for him to say, "We dont have that in stock at the moment", like every other time Iv had to do something like that.
What Im after is the size of the thread of the oil pressure sensor so I dont have to take it out just to show the guy in the shop.
I have the product numbers of 3 sizes of adaptors from Speco, I think I should be able to order them through Autobarn If one of them should fit. (2.6l TS engine)
Adaptor 542-21:
1/8 NPT x M14–1.5 elect oil gauge
Adaptor 542-22:
1/8 NPT x M16–1.5 elec oil gauge
Adaptor 542-23:
1/8 NPT x M18–1.5 elec oil gauge
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

dude, i have done this mod!
easy as , just find a guage repair shop in your local area and the dude behind the counter will probably be able to tell you of the top of his head! WARNING!!!!!! do not, i repeat, do not go auto meter electronic oil pressure guage.
i have had to replace the pressure sender twice now in just under two years. for a "quality product" i find this totally unacceptable.(and trust me , i am really easy to please)
all the other auto meter products i have purchased have worked with out any other sign of trouble and i have no problem with recomending these, but not the oil pressure sender it's self!!
if you need some more help, just give us a call

Thanx, but theres a problem, Im in Tassie and I dont think theres a gauge servicing shop down here, everyone I know has to send them to Victoria. Do U know the number of any good shops that would know or the web sites?
Tassie sux for getting pretty much anything specific.

Well Iv been to all the places that might have a clue about what Id need but no-one has any idea. I finally went into a wreckers and they gave me the sender unit for free (bonus), so now the only thing I have to do is take it into Enzed and get them to measure it all up and get the adaptors.
Anyways I'll post the thread sizes, part numbers for adaptors and pics when I get them for anyone else that needs this info.
Thanx everyone for Ur help.

As it turns out there are no part numbers printed on the ones I got...hrmmmm. But anyways the thread of the Speco sender unit is the same as the standard pressure sensor (1/8 NPT)...even though it looks slightly different, but it fits. So yeah basically all you need is a gender-bender adaptor and a T-piece in this size.
I paid $17, Im not sure if I got ripped off...but then again for $17 I dont really care.
I mounted the sensors in the way shown in the dodgy text picture so everything would fit in behind the heatshield.

I hope this thread helps someone!
