Hi all, I have a slight problem with the auto in my KH, it over revs before changing gears, about 3000 rpm before going into second and thats with a light foot. I changed the fluid a couple of weeks ago which made no difference. Cheers

What sort of mileage is on the car?, its done 204,000 k's, the auto is good except for the over reving before gear changes.

Did you put the right spec fluid into the transmission and did you make sure you flushed the old fluid out?

So no thumping when shifting up or anything like that?
What colour was the old fluid?

Did you put the right spec fluid into the transmission and did you make sure you flushed the old fluid out? Yes I sure did, I used Nulon multi vehicle ATF SP3, I done 3 flush outs to the transmission, it had this problem before I changed the ATF, the old ATF was pretty filthy

What colour was the old fluid? it up shifts ok, slight jerk when going back from forth the 3rd, the old ATF looked like slightly dirty new engine oil, no red colour at all

I'd say that the band is slipping against the drum, causing the free revving between gears. You might need to look at a reco'd or secondhand transmission.
Why not try one of the transmission treatments designed to reduce slippage - MadMagna uses one particular brand (do a search) - costs less than $20 and cannot do any harm.

It's still slip - if it was between gears but not in gear the revs would go to redline in a second but in your case they only go to 3000, so maybe the 2nd gear clutches are not gripping as quick as they should.
Of course I could be completely wrong.

Take it to a trans specialist. They usually will go for a quick drive around the corner with you and tell you what they think it is.
Also, a good way to test for slippage is to load the car up, to do this , drive the car but apply pressure on the brake. When a gear change comes, if its gonna slip i t will slip then and hard given its under load.
Thats what the trans guy did with my camry to check it out.
